Relays - galvanic isolation - made simple

Relays are electromagnetic or electromechanical switches.

Compared to fully electronic circuits and switching concepts, relays still have some significant advantages. They are inexpensive in relation, easy to integrate into existing concepts and, above all, they allow galvanic isolation within the circuits without much effort.
Shori offers relay variants for these application fields:

  • Automotive relay
  • Mains relays
  • Industrial relays
  • Signal relays

In addition to the electrical selection criteria such as coil voltages as well as current, load current, and the mechanical design, the contact types are essential for the correct selection

Normally Open (NO):
The normally open contact is not switched or is open in the idle state.
The normally open contacts only close when a current flows in the control circuit.

Normally closed (NC):
The NC contact is not connected or is closed in the idle state.
The normally closed contacts only open when a current flows in the control circuit.

Changeover contact (CO):
A relay with changeover contacts can do both. There are normally open contacts and normally closed contacts. When a current flows in the control circuit, the respective make contact changes from closed to open or from open to closed.
Combination of these three variants.

An overview of the different relay categories and performance classes can be found here:
