Connectors - Pin headers - IO connectors - USB
Connectors - plug connections are familiar to all of us today and as a user you don't really think about the function any more. It simply has to work! In order for this to work, the geometry of the plugs and their counterparts, the sockets, have been defined in several standards and are also being further developed.
In the case of data or signal transmission plug connections, the quality of the signal paths must be right in addition to the pure electrical contact. A USB plug of the first generation would no longer transmit the data of a USB3.0 plug, even with pure mechanical functionality.
The materials, surface coatings, distances between the contacts and much more must be right.
